Dr Peter Vardy was vice-principal of Heythrop College of the University of London from 1999-2011. He has a passion for engaging young people with the big questions that affect them and has done more than anybody else to inspire the resurgence in the popularity of studying RS and Philosophy. “The Puzzle of God” and “The Puzzle of Ethics” still outsell most other books twenty years after they were published and now Peter has completed the series to support the new A Level with “The Puzzle of Christianity” which was published by William Collins, an imprint of HarperCollins, on the 8th September 2016.
A lively and engaging speaker with the rare ability to keep a mixed audience’s attention for hours, Peter has been the main speaker at the largest conferences for students of A Level RS and Philosophy in England and similar events around the world since the early 1990s. In 2010 he set up Candle Conferences with his wife Charlotte and together they now work with in excess of 14,000 young people and thousands of teachers per year.
“Peter Vardy is a gifted communicator… he is the best popularizer of the Philosophy of Religion currently working in Britain” Theology
